About our Hamilton machine shop

Steeltown Precision is a small CNC machine shop run by machinists. The people who quote your part are the people who program it, set it up and measure it, so what you agree on the phone is what arrives in the box.

Why “Steeltown”

Hamilton has been called Steeltown for as long as anyone here can remember. The mills shaped the city, and the trades that grew around them still keep plants running across the Golden Horseshoe. We took the name because it says where we are and what we work with every day.

Our customers are mostly within an hour's drive: tooling builders, plant maintenance teams, equipment makers and engineers with a prototype to prove. Parts also go by courier across Canada and to the United States.

How a part moves through the shop

Material comes in at one end and leaves at the other, with inspection in between. Every machine on this plan is listed with its envelope on the capabilities page.

8.2How we work3 rules

Three rules the whole shop follows

They are written on the wall above the inspection room door, and they decide most arguments.

One person owns your part

The programmer who reviews your drawing stays with it through set-up and the first article. You always know who to call, and they know the answer.

Say no when we should

We do not bend sheet metal, build large weldments or cast parts. If your job is a poor fit for our machines, we tell you on day one and suggest someone who does it well.

Write it down

Programs, fixture notes, inspection plans and material certificates are filed under your part number, so a repeat order in two years runs the same way.
